About Us

Built by Hand. Forged in Tradition.

There's a certain kind of person who isn't satisfied with off-the-shelf. Someone who knows the difference between something made and something crafted. Jack Capewell is that person — and Capewells Custom Spurs and Knives is the result of a lifetime spent perfecting that difference.

The Man Behind the Brand

Jack Capewell grew up in the saddle. As a saddle bronc champion and cowboy, he learnt early that the gear you trust with your body had better be built right. That pursuit of quality — of tools and equipment that could withstand the raw demands of the rodeo or horse arena — eventually led Jack from the back of a horse to the forge.

Teaching himself the ancient craft of blacksmithing, Jack discovered something powerful: the ability to create exactly what he needed, built to his own exacting standards. What started as a personal pursuit quickly became a calling. Word spread. Riders, stockmen, and collectors started asking for pieces of their own.

Capewells Custom Spurs and Knives was born.

The Craft

Every spur and every knife that leaves the Capewells workshop is made by hand, right here in Queensland, Australia. No shortcuts. No mass production. Just raw steel, fire, and the kind of skill that only comes from years at the anvil.

Jack works with traditional blacksmithing techniques — hammer, heat, and patience — to shape each piece from raw stock. Whether it's a pair of custom competition spurs built for the arena or a hand-forged knife destined for the stockcamp, cattle or horse brands and everything inbetween. Every Capewells piece carries the marks of genuine handcraft: the subtle texture of the hammer, the precision of hand-filing, the weight and balance that only comes from being made for a purpose.

Custom orders are welcome and encouraged. Jack works directly with each customer to understand exactly what they need — the right shank length, the right rowel, the right blade profile — and builds it to suit.

Proudly Australian Made

In a world flooded with imported goods, Capewells stands apart. Every piece is designed, forged, and finished in Queensland by Australian hands. That's not just a point of pride — it's a commitment to quality, to local craftsmanship, and to the working men and women of the Australian western riding community.

When you buy Capewells, you're not just buying a spur or a knife. You're investing in something made to last, made with care, and made right here at home. We also post international and domestic
